About Wendi Waites O'Halloran

Mrs. O’Halloran currently serves at Assistant Professor in the School of Education. She began her academic career as a paraprofessional on a special education school bus. While serving as a para she realized her passion for helping struggling students learn in ways that are creative and fun. Her family and friends encouraged her to attend Louisiana State University Alexandria while continuing her service as a paraprofessional. In December of 2006, Mrs. O’Halloran graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Psychology. She began teaching in the Rapides Parish School District in January 2007.  In June 2007 Mrs. O’Halloran entered the TEACH program at Louisiana College, and became a certified elementary teacher the following May. Upon becoming certified Mrs. O’Halloran pursued her Master’s degree in Educational Leadership through the University of Louisiana at Monroe.

During her service as a teacher, she served in many capacities, from computer lab teacher, Interventionist, classroom teacher, mentor teacher, assistant principal and interim principal. Mrs. O’Halloran has a passion for helping other teachers reach their fullest potential as they become highly effective teachers. Additionally, she is a certified as Kagan Coach in order to specifically help teachers implement student engagement structures. After 21 years of service Mrs. O’Halloran retired from the Rapides Parish School District and became a full time professor in the Education Department at Louisiana College. She loves being a part of training future educators.

Mrs. O’Halloran is a very passionate and bubbly person. She loves being around family and friends. She owes her life accomplishments to God, with whom she has a very personal and deep relationship. Mrs. O’Halloran is married to Shawn O’Halloran. Together, they have eight children. Her hobbies include bass fishing, cooking, playing games, and visiting flea markets.
