About Cecile Barnhart

Cecile Barnhart specializes in French and francophone literature, particularly medieval French literature and Louisiana literature in French.  Alfred Mercier’s novels are the topic of study for Barnhart’s dissertation, tentatively entitled, “Le Caractère oral des romans d’Alfred Mercier: une oeuvre présente, transformatrice, et presciente.”  

Ms. Barnhart is a member of local and national French teacher associations (LFLTA and AATF). At Louisiana College, she serves as cosponsor of the Zeta Gamma chapter of Alpha Mu Gamma, the foreign language honor society, and has served on various committees including Academic Integrity, Core Curriculum Revision, and the Committee and Committees.
