Tulane University School of Medicine
Early Acceptance Program
Louisiana College graduates gain acceptance to medical schools at rates more than double the
national average. In recent years, our students have been accepted to medical schools at
LSU-New Orleans,
LSU-Shreveport,
Tulane University,
University of Colorado,
University of Miami,
University of Minnesota and
the University of Texas. These students gained acceptance through the traditional application process. In addition
to the standard application process, we now can offer two students from Louisiana College the possibility
of early admission to Tulane University School of Medicine. A committee, consisting of faculty from
Louisiana College, is responsible for interviewing and selecting these two students. This program
does not preclude the right of any Louisiana College student to apply to Tulane University School
of Medicine independently.

School of Medicine Program:
-
Complete the required sequence of courses for the Early Acceptance Program by the end
of the junior year with a minimum cumulative 3.5 GPA and a minimum cumulative science GPA
of 3.5. The science GPA is calculated using course work in biology, chemistry, physics and
mathematics.
-
Complete and submit the application (see link on this webpage) for the Early Acceptance
Program to the Chair of the Early Acceptance Committee. Deadline for submission is the first
Friday of April. The application includes a personal statement, three letters of recommendation,
and official transcripts.
-
Interview with the Early Acceptance Committee. The students will be contacted at least
10 days prior to the interview. Only two students from Louisiana College can be nominated
each year.
These requirements must also be met by the student applicant:
-
Any nominated student must complete his or her baccalaureate degree at Louisiana College.
-
Nominees must achieve a minimum score of 27 on the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) and
must complete an application to Tulane University School of Medicine using the American Medical
College Application Service (AMCAS). Guidelines, testing dates each year, and registration information
for the online MCAT are at
www.aamc.org/students/mcat/registrationtips.htm
-
Nominees may retake the MCAT up to three times per year, if necessary, starting in January.
However, the AMCAS deadline is in December of your senior year for the following fall semester's
freshman medical school class. You must have received the minimum MCAT score of 27 by December of
