Student Organizations
Student Nurses Association (SNA)
SNA exists to assist both student nurses and nursing faculty in a variety
of ways. The organization attempts to:
- familiarize its members with problems unique to nursing and with possible
solutions to those problems;
- represent nursing students in campus affairs;
- provide student nurses an opportunity for professional development;
and
- expand the knowledge and understanding of student nurses regarding
their role in the medical community.
The SNA holds monthly meetings and is involved in a variety of events,
including: collecting donations for the victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita; participating in the state SNA convention; collecting soda can tabs for chemo treatments at St. Jude’s Children’s Research Center in Memphis, Tenn.; Christmas caroling at the local VA; and sponsoring the Wildcat 5K Run.
Membership Requirements
Membership is open to all nursing students enrolled at Louisiana College
and to any registered nurses who are seeking higher degrees. Members must attend a minimum of two meetings each semester and volunteer for a minimum of half of all SNA service related events each semester.
