Sigma Tau Delta

A national honor society, Sigma Tau Delta's central purpose is to confer distinction upon students of the English language and literature in undergraduate, graduate, and professional studies. Sigma Tau Delta also recognizes the accomplishments of professional writers who have contributed to the fields of language and literature.

The Epsilon Xi Chapter of Sigma Tau Delta at Louisiana College received its charter in the spring of 1977. Approximately 125 students have been inducted into the chapter since that time.

Members of the chapter have gone on to distingish themselves in fields of law, journalism, teaching (middle school, high school, and college), and theology. Several members have received an M.A. and/or Ph.D. in English.

Representatives of the chapter have attended four international conventions of Sigma Tau Delta.

Two members have had original compositions published in Rectangle, the creative writing magazine produced semiannually by the international office of Sigma Tau Delta at Northern Illinois University.
