Counseling Services

Welcome to Louisiana College Student Counseling. We are here to help you address any issue or concern you might have by providing counseling, consultation, and referral services. We hope the following information is helpful.

Hours of Operation:

Mondays — 12:00-4:00 pm
Wednesdays — 3:30-5:30 pm
Thursdays — 2:30-4:30 pm

By appointment only. Staff is available for crisis counseling after scheduled office hours. Counseling services are not available during academic breaks.

Confidentiality:
All records are confidential. Disclosure can only occur with your written authorization except (1) when a disclosure to a governmental agency is required or authorized by law, or (2) if a student is a danger to himself or herself or to others.

Fees:
The counseling services are provided at no fee to the student. However, there is a five session limit per semester. If it is determined that long term counseling is required, we will help you set this up.

Cancellation:
If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, kindly notify us 24 hours in advance so we may be available to other students requesting services.

Types of Services

Individual Counseling:
We primarily see students on an individual basis to address a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, relationship problems, academic problems, coping with loss, and eating disorders , to mention a few. Counseling sessions are typically once per week for 50 minutes, although other arrangements can be made. Individual counseling services include initial evaluation and assessment, intervention, treatment planning, and short-term psychotherapy.

Referral Services:
Because of the short-term nature of our services we often make appropriate referrals to mental health professionals in the community. Students whose concerns require long-term services, more intensive services, or specialized services not available at LC will be referred to other professionals or agencies in the community.
