Mr. Myron Turner

Assistant Professor of Music


Myron Turner is the Director of Bands and Assistant Professor of Music at Louisiana College in Pineville, Louisiana. In 2007, under the leadership of Andrew Hunter, the band program was re-established at Louisiana College. The program had been dormant for 39 years.  Since that time, the band program has grown significantly, forming a marching band, wind ensemble, and a redesigned comprehensive instrumental music education program. In addition to conducting all major instrumental ensembles, Myron teaches courses in conducting, instrumental methods, secondary school music methods, marching band techniques, and wind band literature. He also serves as Music Director and Conductor of the Red River Wind Symphony.  Myron has served as a clinician and adjudicator throughout the South and prior to accepting this position, Myron taught band and orchestra in Louisiana and Texas for over 27 years. He has held the positions of Director of Orchestras and Assistant Band Director at the University of Louisiana at Monroe and served as Monroe Symphony Youth Orchestra Director and Associate Conductor of the Monroe Symphony Orchestra.  He has served in the LA Army National Guard since 1984 and was the Commander/Conductor of the 156th Army Band from 1995-2007. Myron is the recipient of the John Phillip Sousa BandWorld Legion of Merit.

Myron is a follower of Jesus Christ and is married to Annette. Together, they have nine children, Jordan, Clara, David, Zachary, Iris, Angelle, Benjamin, Reagan, and Lucas and one grandchild, Ily.
