Dr. Joe Aguillard, Louisiana College president, announced this morning the selection of Dr. Peggy Pack for the position of Vice President of Student Development. Pack has been on faculty at Louisiana College since the spring semester.

Dr. Glenn Sumrall has previously held both the roles of Vice President for Academic Affairs and Student Development. Aguillard says the separation of the two areas will allow for greater attention to be given to each individual area.

“Dr. Pack has a vision of the continuation of the integration of faith and learning,” Aguillard says. “She shares our desire for the entire life of the institution to be seamlessly woven into the framework of our Christian worldview.”

“The Office of Student Development at Louisiana College seeks to become a model for other Christian liberal arts colleges,” Pack says. “The goal is to establish a network of programs and services that excel in meeting students’ needs outside the classroom, complement excellence in their academic experiences, and to build a Christian community on a diverse campus.”

“All activities will be designed to simultaneously model and demonstrate a healthy Christian world view,” Pack says. “All actions and activities will be founded in the Bible and planned in consideration of Christ as Lord of our lives.”

Pack will immediately begin the work of vice president, and she will retain faculty status, teaching one course per semester in the Division of Human Behavior.

“Student development will support and provide learning opportunities at all times with an emphasis on spiritual growth and maturation,” she says. “Students will be given opportunities to grow in understanding of their talents and how they might serve the Lord in their daily walk.”

Pack has been an assistant professor of psychology and a member of the student counseling services at Louisiana College. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Kentucky and an M.S. from the University of Central Arkansas. Her undergraduate degree is from State College of Arkansas.

She is listed in the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology and is a Kentucky Licensed Psychologist. Pack is also listed in the American Heritage Registry of Who’s Who in Business. She is also a Fellow with the American Association on Mental Retardation.

Prior to joining the Louisiana College faculty, Pack was in private practice in clinical and forensic psychology. She is known as an expert witness primarily in death penalty cases and has taught at both the graduate and undergraduate level.

Pack is married to Charles Lowe who is also on faculty at Louisiana College. The two have four children.
