Piano competition deadline February 1, 2008
January 30th, 2008Pineville, LA…Louisiana College and the Pineville Kiwanis Club are sponsoring a newly formatted Caudell Cup Piano Competition for 2008 to be held Saturday, March 1st, in Presser Recital Hall. First Prize is $500 and the Caudell Cup. Second prize is $300 and third prize is $200.
The competition is open to pianists of any nationality enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree program in the state of Louisiana at the time of the competition.
Applications should be postmarked not later than February 1, 2008. A non-refundable application fee of $25 must be included with each application. Checks may be payable to Louisiana College.
Repertoire requirements: Two pieces of contrasting styles from advanced standard piano solo repertoire (no concertos). Both pieces must be performed from memory.
Travel expenses to and from Alexandria/Pineville are the responsibility of the contestants.
The Jury’s decisions are final and not subject to review.
The first prize winner will perform a 20 minute program for the Pineville Kiwanis Club at noon on one Tuesday of the spring 2008. Travel expenses will be covered for and lunch will be provided.
