LC Announces Top Thirty Scholars Competition
January 18th, 2008Pineville, LA. … High school students from across the state will compete this Saturday, January 19th from 8 a.m. to noon, in Louisiana College’s annual Clyde and Elizabeth Smith Scholarship Competition that will be held in the Granberry Conference Center on the LC campus. This year’s competition will include 32 students who have applied to LC for admission in the 2008-2009 academic year. Students must have an ACT score of 28 or higher to compete.
The 32 students (see list below) will participate in several activities during the competition including: group discussions, participating in leadership exercises and going through an interview process with the Vice President of Academic Affairs and the academic council (made up of Louisiana College faculty members.) These activities will culminate in a banquet for the students and their parents, where the winner of the scholarship will be announced.
The winner of the Clyde and Elisabeth Smith Memorial Scholarship will receive a scholarship that will provide for tuition, room and board, and textbooks for four years at Louisiana College.
The other 31 finalists will each receive tuition scholarships in the amount of $32,000.
