Pineville, LA. … The Louisiana College Department of Wildcat Athletics announces the third annual Louisiana College Wildcat Football Celebration. This year’s events are scheduled for Friday, March 5th beginning with a dinner at 5:30 p.m. in the Granberry Conference Center and then the Grand Celebration at 7 p.m. in Guinn Auditorium, both take place on the campus of Louisiana College.
A press conference announcing this year’s special speaker for the football celebration will be announced on Thursday, February 11th at 10 a.m. in the formal lounge at the Granberry Conference Center.
“We are very excited about the individual who is coming to help us raise funds and support for the football program at LC,” explained Dennis Dunn, Head Football Coach at Louisiana College.

Pineville, LA…Louisiana College Department of Christian Studies will host Dr. Kenneth Keathley, for a campus revival February 9-11th. Services will be held at 11:00 am each day in Guinn Auditorium.
Keathley serves as Dean of Graduate Studies and Professor of Theology at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC, where he has been teaching since 2006.
A native Missourian, Ken was saved and called to preach at the age of 17 as a result of attending a revival service. He has served as Youth Pastor, Interim Pastor, and Senior Pastor of churches in Missouri, the Carolinas, Virginia and Louisiana. Before teaching at Southeastern, he served two years at Midwestern Baptist Seminary and almost six years at New Orleans Baptist Seminary as both an administrator and professor.
He has several published articles and books, the most recent of which is Salvation and Sovereignty: A Molinist Approach. He is also a regular contributor to Southeastern’s online journal, Between the Times. More information on Keathley can be found on his website www.theologyforthechurch.com.
Keathley and his wife Penny have been married since 1980, live in Rolesville, NC and are members of Central Baptist Church in Henderson, NC. They have two grown children, one daughter-in-law and one grandchild.

Pineville, LA. … Louisiana College and CHRISTUS Cabrini Hospital Cardiovascular Services present, “Age Fast, Age Slow: It’s Up to You!” by guest speaker Kenneth H. Cooper, M.D., MPH, founder and chairman of the Cooper Aerobics Center in Dallas, Texas.
Dr. Cooper will speak on Thursday, February 18th at 5:30 p.m. in Guinn Auditorium on the campus of Louisiana College. Dr. Cooper is known as “the father of aerobics” and is recognized as a leader of the international physical fitness movement. In 1968 Cooper published his first bestseller Aerobics; in that book he introduced a new word and concept that launched a world-wide fitness revolution. More than 40 years later, this revolutionary physician and author continues to inspire individuals to exercise in pursuit of good health.

Pineville, LA. … The Louisiana College School of Nursing will host an open house on Thursday, February 11th at 5:30 p.m. in the Granberry Conference Center on the campus of Louisiana College. This event is for anyone interested in learning more about the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (A.B.S.N) degree.
The A.B.S.N. program at LC began one year ago. “This program allows individuals who already have a Bachelor’s Degree an alternative route to enter the nursing profession,” explained Dr. Kimberly Sharp, Dean of Nursing and Allied Health at Louisiana College. “This is a full-time, 16 month accelerated course of study that will require a large commitment on the part of students,” said Sharp.
The open house is an opportunity for prospective students to meet Dr. Sharp and other LC nursing faculty, learn about admission policies, pre-requisites, tuition, financial aid and scholarships.

Pineville, LA…The Louisiana College Debate Team competed over the weekend at the LSU-Shreveport Tri-State Debate Competition where seven of fifteen LC competitors advanced to elimination rounds. In the Novice division, senior, Courtney Hamilton, advanced to finalist and was awarded the Novice Debate Champion Award for the state of Louisiana. Travis Kliewer was a semi-finalist in the varsity division, and LC Debate Coach, Scot Loyd, finished as a quarter-finalist in the professional division. James Arnold, Ashley Dufrene, Jesus Carrillo, and Joseph Buzzetta each finished as quarter-finalist in their respective divisions. Additionally, Arnold, Hamilton and Loyd received speaker awards. According to Loyd, “The tournament was a great beginning of what promises to be another award winning semester for the LC Debate Program.”

Pineville, LA…The Louisiana College Department of Music will present two operas scheduled to run four days. Opening night is Thursday, February 4 at 7:30 pm in the Martin Performing Arts Center (MPAC). Additional show dates/times are February 5-6 at 7:30 pm and one matinee performance on Sunday, February 7th at 2:30pm.
Both operas will be presented each night with an intermission between the two. The first is a comedy, The Impresario, by W. A. Mozart. Cast members include: baritone, Benjamin Swain as Impresario Scruples; soprano, Kameryn Lueng as Madame Goldentrill; and soprano, Juliana Wimberly-Handy, as Miss Silverpeal.
The second opera, The Old Maid and the Thief, is a drama by Gian Carlo Menotti. Cast members include: Juliana Wimberly-Handy as Miss Todd- the old maid; Benjamin Swain as Bob-The Wanderer/Thief; Kameryn Lueng, as Laetitia- Miss Todd’s maid; and soprano, Loryn Frey as Miss Pinkerton-Miss Todd’s spinster neighbor.
The operas are directed by Loryn Frey. Conductor will be Andrew Hunter; Pianists are Mei-En Chou and Daniel Hill. Set designs are by Ross Schexnayder.
Ticket prices for performances are: Adults-$10, Students-$5, LC Students, Faculty and Staff-$2. Reservations can be made by calling the LC Department of Music office at 487-7336. Tickets will also be available at the door.
