International Study Programs
Louisiana College London Semester
Dates:
Every fall semester
Location:
London, England
Objectives and Description of Course:
Sixteen Louisiana College students live and study in the center of London.
For most of their stay, students reside in a bed and breakfast hotel within
walking distance of many of the great sights of London: Trafalger Square,
Piccadilly Circus, the National Theatre. The renowned British Museum is
only a block away. Students enroll in a variety of classes, many taught
by British professors. Among the courses that may be offered are drama,
history, literature, art, music, political science, communications, and
natural sciences. Classes use the resources of London to make the entire
city the student's classroom.
One important aspect of the program is the opportunity to stay with British
host families. Divided into small groups, students stay part of the semester
with British families where they experience day-to-day life in modern
Britain. The homestay introduces students to the diverse character of
the British people by giving them the chance to share meals, conversation,
and ideas.
The highlight of the semester is a ten-day fall-break tour of England,
Scotland, and Wales at no extra cost to the student.
