International Study Programs
Hong Kong Baptist University International Student Exchange
Dates:
Fall and Spring semesters each academic year
Location:
Hong Kong, China
Objectives and Description of Course:
Louisiana College is one of 51 North American colleges and universities
that has a "Study Abroad" agreement with Hong Kong Baptist University.
Under this agreement, one qualified undergraduate student from the LC
campus may attend HKBU each semester, where he/she will live in a Student
Residence Hall and share a room with a Chinese-speaking student of the
same gender. Such an arrangement maximizes cultural exchange, language
enhancement, and broadened global perspectives. HKBU, founded in 1956,
seeks to foster academic excellence, intellectual freedom, and high ethical
standards within a framework of Christian higher education in a Chinese
cultural setting. The university is organized into seven divisions or
schools - arts, business, Chinese medicine, communications, continuing
education, science, and social sciences-- and grants both undergraduate
and graduate degrees. "Study Abroad" participants enroll in
courses taught in English from across the university-wide curriculum.
These courses are orientation sessions that help the "Study Abroad"
student become familiar and comfortable with the HKBU campus, programs,
and facilities and with the exciting international city of Hong Kong in
general.
Pre-requisites/Eligibility/Requirements:
All LC sophomores, juniors, or seniors in good academic and campus standing
may attend.
Courses:
Visiting students select from a variety of courses in most majors, all
taught in English. Students are encouraged to enroll in either Cantonese

hours. Students should consult LC advisors and the registrar before selecting
HKBU courses in order to ensure credit transfer.
