Overview

Louisiana College: A Quality Four-Year University
Louisiana College, a four-year-university, was founded in 1906 and is known for its academic quality and excellence in education. As a private Christian college of liberal arts and sciences it serves more than 1,000 students each year. Louisiana College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and has been recognized for the past several years by U.S. News and World Report's "America's Best Colleges."

Location
Louisiana College is located in the southern United States near the Red River in Pineville, Louisiana (population 12,000). Alexandria, Louisiana (population 60,000) sits directly across the Red River and forms part of the college's community.

The campus is comprised of 81 acres of pine trees with twenty-five academic and residential buildings both modern and historic. Pineville is a very safe area with easy access by car to restaurants, shopping, and recreation. The multicultural city of Alexandria, a five-minute drive away, also offers a shopping mall, an international airport, and other conveniences.

The state of Louisiana is a popular year-round tourist destination for people who enjoy Southern history, food, music, festivals, and charm. Major cities within easy driving distance include New Orleans (4 hours), Baton Rouge (2 hours), Shreveport (2 hours), Houston (4 hours), and Dallas (5 hours).

Central Louisiana enjoys comfortable and mild weather: warm and humid in spring and fall, cool in winter, and hot in summer. The temperature drops below freezing just a few days out of each year. It rarely snows.
