About Russell L. Meek, Ph.D.

Dr. Meek has a heart for teaching God’s Word and a deep and abiding love for Jesus and his church. God used this desire to teach the Bible and serve the local church to bring him to Louisiana College. Here he spends his time teaching students to know and love God through the Old Testament. Although he values all of God’s Word, Dr. Meek is most interested in the wisdom literature of the Old Testament (Proverbs, Job, Ecclesiastes) because he believes these books deal with the issues humans struggle with constantly: living faithfully to the Lord in a fallen world. In addition, Dr. Meek is co-founder and associate editor of Journal for the Evangelical Study of the Old Testament, an international, peer-reviewed journal that engages the Old Testament from an evangelical perspective for the good of the church.

When Dr. Meek isn’t teaching, you can find him spending time with his (much) better half, Brittany, and their child. They enjoy serving at their local church (The Gathering Place West), spending time outdoors, cooking, and playing board games together.
