Originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, Mrs. James has been a RN for 30 years.  She graduated from LSUA with her Associate Degree in Nursing, followed by Northwestern State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.  She then obtained a Master of Science in Nursing from Loyola University of New Orleans.  She has served as a nurse educator for four years. Areas of expertise are within maternal-child health and nursing informatics.

Published works include, “Health Priority Needs in Louisiana: Using Rapides Parish as an example”, presented at the Beta Chi, STTI convention,  and “Leadership Development of Senior Nursing Students through Simulation”, presented at the 2014 National Mother Baby Nurses Conference.  Certifications include Certified Nursing Informatics Specialist.  Professional memberships include ANA, AWHONN, STTI (Nu Tau Chapter), and SSH.  She has served as the Vice President for STTI, Nu Tau chapter and a member of the planning committee for the Nu Tau Spring Symposium.

Mrs. James currently teaches Fundamentals of Nursing (clinicals), Nursing Informatics, Nursing Leadership (clinicals), and Maternal-Newborn Nursing.  She has been married to Michael James for almost 26 years. Together they have three children; Barry who is a 2nd Lt in the USAF, Andrew who is attending Louisiana College, and Maggie, an 8th grader at Grace Christian. Her hobbies include traveling, crafts, piano, and teaching Sunday School at her church.
