About Dr. Shank:

-B.S. in Biochemistry, Eastern Mennonite University, 1999
-Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics, University of Virginia, 2007
-Dissertation Title: Nuclear Transport of the Androgen Receptor

Dr. Shank’s research interests include the nucleocytoplasmic trafficking of nuclear receptor (NR) transcription factors within eukaryotic cells. His research has focused on the use of digitonin-permeabilized cells as a basis for studying nucleocytoplasmic trafficking in vitro. He is also interested in the influence of molecular chaperones on NR trafficking. He has published in the Journal of Biological Chemistry and Critical Reviews in Eukaryotic Gene Expression.

Dr. Shank taught in the chemistry department at Greenville College (IL) prior to coming to Louisiana College in 2010. He is married to Leanne, and they have three children (Nyle, Eleanor, and Owen). They attend Kingsville Baptist Church in Ball, LA.
