Biography

Dr. Loryn Frey holds a bachelor of music, a master of music, and a doctor of musical arts degree. For her doctorate, she worked with applied teachers Dr. Sandra Kungle and Martina Arroyo. She has also studied with Lucille Villaneuve Evans and Robert K. Evans.
She has done further study as a National Endowment for the Humanities Verdi Scholar at New York University, at the Boris Goldovsky Workshop in Opera Performance, and in private vocal studies with Oren Brown and John Alexander.
Having taught at Louisiana College for 30 years, she specializes in opera workshop and voice and diction for singers. She is an active member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and has held several offices in the South Louisiana chapter, including president. She is the local coordinator for the College Music Society, of which she is also a member.
Dr. Frey is an active musician herself, doing several recitals each year, including last year’s recital with Artist in Residence Katerina Zaitseva. She is active in the community, serving on such boards as the Salvation Army.
