Biography
A native Taiwan, Mei-En Chou began her piano studies at age four, and began playing the
trumpet at age nine. During her school years, Miss Chou received several outstanding achievement
awards for her trumpet skills. After graduating with a bachelor's degree in trumpet from National
Taiwan Normal University in 2003 and earning her certificate as a music instructor from the
Ministry of Education, R.O.C. in 2004, Miss Chou came to the United States to pursue graduate
studies in piano performance at the University of North Texas, under the instruction of Dr.
Pamela Mia Paul.
In addition to being an active teacher and collaborative pianist, Miss Chou has held a Teaching
Assistantship in the choral area, a UNT Wind Symphony Scholarship, and appeared with Dallas American
Asian Youth Orchestra, East Texas Symphony Orchestra, and Music Theatre of Denton.
She has been the pianist of the North Texas Wind Symphony, Long Star Wind
Orchestra, Denton Bach Society, and a continuo player for the UNT Baroque Orchestra.
A member of the Denton Music Teacher Association, Miss Chou has taught both privately and at the
School of Creative Art at Grace Avenue United Methodist Church. In addition, she was the choir director
and conductor of North Texas Chinese Church.
Miss Chou graduated in May 2008 with a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance and passed
the audition for the doctoral degree. Miss Chou is now the Artist in Residence and Instructor of
Piano at Louisiana College.
