The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) officially announced that Louisiana College has earned reaffirmation of its accreditation. Reaffirmation of LC’s accreditation serves as a clear indication of the school’s commitment to continuous improvement in education and fostering academic excellence.
The announcement comes following a vote of the accrediting agency’s Board of Trustees at their annual meeting in December as well as a comprehensive on-site review of Louisiana College in October by a five-member SACS committee of academic professionals.
“As anticipated, we are pleased with the successful results of the reaffirmation process and the recognition by the review committee of the commitment demonstrated by our dedicated faculty and staff over the past three years,” said Dr. Joe Aguillard, President. “Parents and students can rest assured that the high-quality of education and programs offered by Louisiana College have never faltered and our passion to 'change the world for Christ', has never diminished."
As noted on the SACS website, “Accreditation by SACS is a statement of the institution’s continuing commitment to integrity and its capacity to provide effective programs and services based on agreed-upon accreditation standards.”
An institution’s accreditation signifies: (1) “a mission appropriate to higher education, (2) resources, programs and services sufficient to accomplish and sustain its mission, (3) clearly specified educational objectives that are consistent with its mission and appropriate to the degrees it offers, and that it is (4) successful in assessing its achievement of these objectives and demonstrating improvements.”
Louisiana College has been continuously accredited since 1923. Since that time, faculty and staff have worked diligently to successfully resolve all deficiencies originally cited by SACS, as indicated by the college earning reaffirmation following its recent on-site review.
