Career Advising
Career Advising is offered free to students and alumni for career and college major decisions. Students should make an appointment by coming by the Student Center, calling 318-487-7105, or emailing .
The Director will assist you in your college major search as well as job search. Job listings are available in the Career Center. Workshops, computer programs, and individual assistance are available for:
- Resume writing
- Interview tips and practice interviews
- Company research
- Job search strategies
- Professional image and etiquette
Computer Lab
Computers with Internet access are available to students who wish to
register with the Career Center and/or research employment options on
the Web. The computer lab also offers several inventories to help students
explore values, interests, abilities, and personality. There is no charge
to current students.
Career Testing
Several interest inventories are available to help students explore values, interests, abilities, and personality. There is no charge to current students. Alumni are charged a fee of $25.00 and an appointment is needed.
Seminars
Seminars are offered throughout the year to assist students in job search preparation, resume writing, interviewing, and related topics. Attendance is open to all Louisiana College students and alumni. To find out more about the seminars offered, please call or come by the Career Center.
Graduate School
The Career Center offers preparation resources for the following tests to make your transition to graduate school easier: GRE, GMAT, LSAT, MCAT, and PRAXIS.
Credentials
A student or graduate may establish a credentials file containing a resume or vita, letters of recommendation, reference letters and/or sample cover letters with the Career Center. Copies of this information can be forwarded by the Career Center staff to prospective employers at the student's or graduate's request.
LC Alumni Network
Louisiana College encourages alumni to participate in the Alumni Network which serves to promote relationships with graduates seeking professional positions. Several alumni are available to talk to prospective graduates concerning career-related topics and career options. Upon request by the student or graduate, the Career Center staff will facilitate contacts.
