Student Composition Competition

The Student Composition Competition is sponsored by the Department of Music at Louisiana College. The contest is open to all music majors who have finished at least two years of harmony studies. Each spring, music students are invited to submit a musical work of their own composition. Dr. Ben Yang normally guides all contestants' compositions. The compositions are presented as part of the Music Department Awards Day program. Music faculty members, graduating senior music majors, and guests who have music degrees judge the competition. A cash award in the form of a scholarship is presented to the student composer who wins the compeition.
