The Division of Fine Arts & Media seeks to help students develop their God-given talents
in the areas of Music, Art, Theatre, and Journalism with the help of a truly creative Christian faculty.
Louisiana College's Department of Music offers a stellar music education taught by educators who are active
performers, as well as pedagogy experts. Musical performance groups include the chorale, The Voices of
Louisiana College, Opera, The Louisianians and the Wildcat Marching Band.
The Department of Art includes computer graphics labs, ceramics, painting, drawing and design studios,
photography, darkroom, woodworking shop and a gallery devoted to student and professional exhibitions.
Both the Music and Art Departments prepare the student for careers in their respective fields
or for graduate studies through a creatively intense program of study.
The Division of Fine Arts & Media also includes Communication Arts and Theatre.
Their purpose is to develop in its majors a broad base of academic skills and tools
implicit in a liberal arts environment while also exposing the College community
to speech and performing arts events that glorify God, enrich experience and broaden
understanding.
The Department of Journalism is offering students a fresh approach to Journalism
Education. Students will learn writing and reporting skills from faculty whose expertise
has been developed in the real world setting.
As the world of journalism faces challenges from the transition to an online world,
Louisiana College is embracing that change by offering students a fresh approach
to journalism education. Currently, LC is moving to an online version of its student
newspaper, The Wildcat. The online version is anticipated to be fully functional
by mid-term of Fall, 2009. The website will be: www.wildcatsmedia.com
