Department of Communication Arts
Studying Communication Arts at Louisiana College
Communications can be defined in a manner of ways. One definition is
"any of various professions involved with the transmission of information."
Another is "the art and technique of using words effectively to impart
information or ideas." Both definitions apply to the studies done
in the Department of Communication Arts at Louisiana College.
Degree Programs
Students may earn a bachelor of arts degree in either communication arts,
media communication, technical
theatre or theatre arts. In all
of these majors, students learn to effectively share information and ideas,
whether through debate, public speaking, or theatre.
Curriculum
The Department offers minors as well as majors in communication arts,
media communication, and theatre arts. A student might, for instance,
major in one area and minor in another (an example would be a media communication
major and a theatre arts minor).
Faculty
With a small faculty to student ratio, all students are guaranteed individualized
attention from their professors. All of the communication
arts faculty are experienced in their craft, both as educators and
professionals. They are concerned with encouraging and assisting students
as they clarify their life goals and as they hone their skills of communications.

The Martin Performing Arts Center
is a state-of-the-art theatre complex with educational space and media
communication studios. The Center houses a flexible theatre space, costume
