Kim Harper specializes in American Literature, focusing particularly upon southern writers of the Civil War, Reconstruction, and Civil Rights Movement. She is currently enrolled at the University ofLouisiana-Lafayette where she plans to complete the Doctoral of Philosophy in English. She is currently taking courses and conducting research to expand her thesis into a dissertation on race relations in Ellen Douglas’s work. She is a member of the Modern Language Association. Her research interests include southern women writers, race relations during the Civil Rights Movement, and the role of womenwithin the home and workplace. She teaches Composition I and II, Survey of American Literature, and Technical Writing.
