 Denise Aguillard taught in the elementary classroom for sixteen years before becoming the 2008 Louisiana Elementary Teacher of the Year.  In 2009, she served as a judge on the Louisiana Teacher of the Year panel and also on the Louisiana Principal of the Year panel.  She was appointed to the Louisiana State D.A.R.E (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) Board by Governor Bobby Jindal in 2008 and she is presently an active member of the board.  She is a member of the Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education. She brings her experience in the field of education to Louisiana College by teaching Social Studies Methods, Science Methods, and Math Methods for elementary teachers.
